Andrew Hines becomes youngest world champion in NHRA history
November 15, 2004 – At just 21-years old, Andrew Hines has become the youngest driver in NHRA history to win a national championship. Going into the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona, CA November 11 – 14, 2004 Andrew had enough points that all he needed to tie-up the championship was a qualifying position. Andrew qualified the Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson 12th in a 16 bike field with a 7.184 @ 185.23 MPH.
This is the fourth Pro Stock Bike World Championship title for the Hines family, with brother Matt Hines winning three titles between 1997 and 1999. Matt Hines was the previous youngest champion on NHRA history with his first championship coming at 25 years old.
