Angelle Seeling Clinches Winston Pro Stock Bike Championship
October 31, 2000 – Angelle Seeling, Star Racing, Team Winston and HPC wrapped up the NHRA Pro Stock Bike championship a race early in Houston, Texas on Sunday. Although Angelle went out in the second round, her first place qualifying and points for the first round put her far enough ahead of Matt Hines to sew-up the Championship for 2000.
Winning the Championship makes Angelle only the second woman in NHRA’s 49-year history to capture a professional-level NHRA/Winston Drag Racing title and the first in Pro Stock Bike.
Angelle held a 138 point lead over Matt Hines going into Matco Tools Supernationals. Qualifying #1 with a 7.202 added enough points to put her safely out of reach in the next two races (Dallas Nov. 3 -5 and Pomona Nov. 10 – 12). Angelle lost in the second round to Shawn Gann, but Matt also lost in the same round to event winner Dave Schultz.
Team owner George Bryce said “We are so proud of our team, bike, engines and driver. We are hard to beat and we proved it. Thank you all for helping us achieve this five year goal!”
Angelle Seeling added “Thanks to my awesome Start Racing team for giving me the chance of a lifetime. Thanks also to all our sponsors for their continued support. Without them we could not have done it.”
HPC congratulates Angelle in her Championship. HPC provides various coatings for the team including our HiPerCoat exhaust system coating. As Angelle says “It keeps us cool so we can go fast.”
A special congrats goes out to event winner Dave Schultz, the most winning NHRA Pro Stock Bike racer in history. Dave was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and took two months off while battling it. Dave is a true competitor and we are happy to see him back.
