Fred Collis Moves Into Prostar Points Lead
Qualifies #1 and Makes First Final Round Appearance
NOTES AND QUOTES: With less than 30 passes on a Pro Stock Motorcycle, Fred is now within 0.023 seconds of the national Prostar E.T. record. In his third professional appearance, he made it to his first round in which he was runner up to Prostar’s 1998 Champion Paul Gast. During eliminations Fred posted a craeer best run of 7.226 seconds. While George Bryce and the Team Winston Crew were in Dallas, TX chasing the NHRA championship; the Star Performance Parts crew, Jackie Bryce, Eddie Davis and Fred Collis were pretty much on their own making the tune-up calls in Columbus, OH.
Jackie Bryce: “This is the first time in our 21 year racing career that George and I have raced apart from each other. I was a little apprehensive at first, but after a couple of cell phone calls and encouragement from George, other racers, Fred and Eddie everything just fell into place. Our team worked great together, even Julie (our 21 month old baby) was an angel. We continue to learn both at the shop and on the track. I can hardly wait to race at Rockingham!”
Fred Collis: “This is a total team effort’ from R&D this winter, to dyno testing, to assisting George at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School, to the whole Star Racing crew. Without any one of these ingredients we wouldn’t be where we are today. We can now claim having the world’s quickest four-valve Pro Stock Suzuki on the Planet (Angelle Seeling). I want to thank all of my sponsors, Star Performance Parts, Hunter Motorsports, Snap-On Tools, American Suzuki, Vanson Leathers, HPC, GOTO Uniforms and Wiseco Pistons for making this all possible.”
