HPC to display two streamliners
at 2005 SEMA Show

Nish Motorsports streamliner

#411 Burkland streamliner

October 12, 2005 – HPC will host two of the world’s fastest wheel-driven vehicles in our booth at the 2005 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV November 1 – 4, 2005.  This is only the second time in the history of the SEMA Show for two land speed record streamliners to be displayed

The Nish Motorsports streamliner has set fifteen land speed records in the past eighteen years and holds the current AA/FS record of 373.907 MPH.  Jeff, Terry, T.J., and Mike Nish as well as Pam Curtis and Jim Wysong have set land speed records while driving this streamliner in various engine configurations.

The car was damaged in a 2004 crash but has been rebuilt with a new body from Jim and B.J. Burkoll at Autobody Express that will accommodate a new naturally aspirated 673 cubic inch Aries Big Block Chevrolet engine built by Klein Engines in Chandler, AZ.  The Nish’s are hopeful this combination of aerodynamics and horsepower should produce a 425 MPH AA/FS record.

Burkland’s #411 streamliner is powered by two 450+ cubic inch supercharged and alcohol injected Donavan Chrysler-based engines bolted nose-to-nose.  One engine runs in normal rotation and the other in reverse rotation and power is put to the all-wheel drive system via a Liberty 5-speed transmission.  This combination powered the #411 car to a 417.020 MPH record in the AA/BFS class in 2004.
