Sherwin-Williams has named Urbane Bronze SW 7048 as its Color of the Year for 2021. The color is a warm, sophisticated bronze that makes us all want to find peace in any space. With its ties to the natural world, Urbane Bronze is a strong anchor that keeps the mind calm and stable.
“The home is now the best place to get away from the world,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “Using color is an easy and effective way to make a personal haven.” “Urbane Bronze encourages you to make a space where you can relax, think, and feel refreshed.”
The “stay at home” mantra has told us where to go and what to do in 2020, and it will also affect interior design trends in 2021 and beyond.
The color is part of the Sanctuary palette in Sherwin-2021 Williams’s Colormix Forecast, which says designers will look for balance in the coming year. With the start of the 2020s, designers moved away from the cool neutrals of the 2010s and back to bright, bold colors. This was done to add more personality to the design.
“Urbane Bronze is a soothing color that takes inspiration from nature to make you feel calm and at ease,” said Wadden. “Its nostalgic ties to the design of the 1970s and 1990s are also comforting, but the gray undertones give it a distinctly modern twist.”
Urbane Bronze is the new neutral color. It is bold and understated at the same time. It can be used anywhere in or outside of the home. Urbane Bronze is a color that can be used as the main color or as an accent. It has an anchoring quality that gives bedrooms, living rooms, dens, and home offices a sense of comfort and sanctuary.
“Complement the simplicity of Urbane Bronze with natural materials, like wood finishes, organic stone accents, or woven textiles, and a mix of metals,” said Wadden. “This will create a calm space that is rooted in nature.”
Pair Urbane Bronze with other warm neutrals, such as elegant bone whites like Modern Gray SW 7632, for a modern take on minimalism.
Add a modern green like Messenger Bag SW 7740 to add more color and a hint of the bold color combinations of the 1970s. With Urbane Bronze on all four walls and trim, you can make a calm place to work from home.
Biophilic design will continue to be an important part of commercial spaces for designers and other professionals. Urbane Bronze is a great accent color because it has a natural look that grounds a space.
Wadden said, “Urbane Bronze is another way to bring nature into the design, and it is a great color for window trim, columns, and accent walls in commercial spaces.” “It goes well with other biophilic design elements, such as big, bright rooms and indoor plants.”
Wadden is the director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. He is in charge of the global color and design team, which researches and looks for key trends that affect how we use color. The team picks a Color of the Year and a Colormix Forecast for the coming year from these findings.
