Titan Motorsports sets new National ET record
April 17, 2005 – Brad Personett and the Titan Motorsports team set a new National ET record at the 3rd Annual Nitto NHRA Sport Compact Nationals at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV, held April 14 – 17.
Personett piloted the Titan Motorsports Toyota Celica Pro RWD car to a 4th qualifying position with a 6.757 @ 211.66 MPH on Saturday. Sunday’s first round of eliminations would see a blistering 6.524 @ 217.04 MPH pass to defeat Abel Ibarra, the quickest and fastest pass in NHRA Sport Compact history.
Brad needed to run a 6.589 @ 214.87 or better to back-up both ends and make official the new national ET and MPH records. Unfortunately Personett’s Toyota Celica shook the tires in the semifinal round, killing his ET and giving the win to Stephan Papadakis, but still running a 6.802 @ 216.93 to back-up the national speed record.
